Salaam Mumbai
I feel a mix of pain and anger at the Mumbai blasts.
Pain - seeing the inconsolable suffering of innocent victims and their friends & families. My wife was on a train in Bandra around 6pm yesterday, and it’s only a matter of chance that she is unhurt. Others were less fortunate, and our hearts go out to them.
As for the cowardly scum who perpetrated this crime – yes, you’ve hurt some of us beyond repair. However, as a city and country, we’ll quickly get back to our feet. Since moving to Mumbai 5 years back (like everyone else, to earn a living), I’ve seen the city’s amazing resilience and Mumbaikars’ willingness to help each other out in a crisis. It’s a great city that will only get stronger after such events.
As for today, we donate blood, do what we can to help, get back to work and yes, take the train home!

Bomblasts were a painful tragedy , this is unacceptable , India is becoming a soft state , India needs to take a leaf out of Israel's book.....we neither have the leadership , determination to handle this ......we are unequipped to handle this....somehow we are left to laud Bombay's spirit.....

The title is apt and salutes the spirit of Mumbai

this is Ghots from WIMWI'01. While i would also like to salute the resilience spirit of mumbai but feel a much more stronger response needed. Mumbai being the residence of my in-law's and others friends, I am equally worried upset & angry.
Strongly feel that just bouncing back is not ok. We have to impose a "lethal penalty" on some of these "trigger happy terrorists" so that we can raise the cost of these barbaric acts.
Even now many of these "blast happy" folks are roaming around in many "secularly" protected areas.
Without meaning to belittle the sufferering and the magnitde of the tragedy, I wonder how much of it is a combination of sheer indifference and lack of options for the mumbaikars, rather than the "spirit of mumbai" psychobabble.
Its good to call mumbai and its spirit, people willing to help each other and blah blah
But this ridiculous praising of people dosnt help them, why year after year they have to suffer with such unhuman activities.
media need to lash politicians and police than Salaming Mumbaikars and leaving them to syffer yet another time.
